1. The person being interviewed here is Dan Smith 2. He is a merchant and a farmer who shows his good ways, along with his wife, to the community. 3. He is a male (they do not give the race or age) 4. The interview takes place in Mentone, Alabama. 5. The date of the interview is December 13th, 1938 6. The interviewer is not revealed. Paragraph: Dan Smith is a very down-to-earth person, who loves to help out the community from his home and his shop. He works many jobs, and when he has free time, he goes fishing. When he does jobs for people, they usually end up owing him money, be he says either, “I've got to pay my taxes and licenses and if you can pay all this bill or something on it, I'll appreciate it," or when they can’t pay the bill off yet, he says, “Well, I know how hard times are. Pay me something as soon as you can." He is very satisfied with the country life that he resides in, and he would do nothing to change it. In the interview, they also discuss his religious encounters. He was considering being a “Holy Roller,” but many were taken a little back by this, since they never thought of him as a religious man. In his house/shop, people are invited to come and stay out from the cold for a little bit to warm up before they would have to leave again. Also, his wife prepares meals for people who decide to stay for dinner, and all are welcome. They are both such a kind couple that they let strangers come and eat with them or let them rest if they need to, and even in their own home. Overall, Dan Smith and his wife Mrs. Smith are trying to make the best out of the Great Depression by helping out others and doing the work that they need to do to stay alive and well, and they are always able to look at the bright sides of things. Both of their lives I assume were very bright and worthwhile because of their charming attitudes and beautiful personalities.

Paragraph:
Mr. D. J Owens and his wife lived in Mobile, Alabama. They weren't that satisfied with the living style and wanted a break from citylife. So, after fixing up a boat, Mr. Owens moved him and his wife into the boat and introduced themselves to living on the water. They enjoyed it so much. To earn a living they would make trips to the city and pick up fishermen. The fishermen would pay money to use their boat. Eventually they sold the boat and returned to citylife just for a change of pace. They missed living on the boat and it was hard for them to keep up with the costs of living in the city. To solve their problems they moved to a house resting on a barge and look forward to the day that they can buy a boat to pull it out into the open water once more. This interview was very interesting; that kind of lifestyle would be a lot of fun. I enjoyed reading about it and discovering that people didn't just live in the city, now I know of a family that actually lived on the water.
